History of the Teledata Unit
Looking back in history you can find some companies who have been signatory with Local 46 since the early 1980's. D.W. Close signed a Letter of Assent in October 1983, authorizing Northwest Communication Contractors Association as it's representative for the then current Sound - Communication - Telephone Interconnect Agreement.
Today's Sound and Communication Unit officially started at Local 46 in 1989 with approximately 20 people and only a few contractors. This unit is over 400 strong and growing rapidly, adding an average of 30 people per month, and currently has over 100 signatory contractors.
Our current agreement is in two parts:
1) The Ninth District Sound and Communications Agreement Between The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and The National Electrical Contractors Association
2) Current Local Addendum was implemented by NECA, effective 2003.
